I recently posed about how we had officially chosen the granite slabs for our new kitchen. YAY!! Well, now the kitchen cabinets have been selected too, and we are so excited! We are going to go with the door style below, but this is not the exact color. Our color is called “French Vanilla,” and it is more white than the one below. The cabinets will actually be the exact color of all of the white paint throughout out home. We had the cabinet sample color matched at Ace Hardware, so everything would match perfectly. The same color was used for every piece of trim and molding in the house, as well as the paneling in the dining room. I really hope that it does turn out to be the exact color of the cabinets, because it is too late to go back now – LOL!!
Below is a picture of our new cabinets in front of our existing ones. The current cabinets are an extremely dated oak color, with tarnished brass pulls. We really think that these new cabinets are going to look nice against the new dark floors that we previously had installed when we first purchased our home. They doors are the full mount style, so you won’t see any of the hinges once they are installed. They will go up to the ceiling, with the crown molding tying into them. We will definitely be in trouble if the paint color doesn’t exactly match, because the molding will also go over the top of the cabinets – YIKES!!!
Now, I know that this sounds crazy, but I found that the most difficult part of the kitchen selection process was choosing the pulls! I will go ahead and warn you that there are SO MANY OPTIONS, that it is completely overwhelming. Bradley and I have been looking at pulls for months, and we finally decided on the ones below (second from the top):
We wanted something very basic, so it wouldn’t look dated in a few short years. We purchased these in the brushed nickel finish, even though the display is shown in gold. Something we still have to decide is if we are going to do all long pulls, versus having some of the circle pulls on the top cabinets (right side – in the below picture). This has been one of the harder parts of the design process, but we still have a little more time to make a decision. We have about three more weeks until the construction group needs to have the pulls in hand so they can drill the holes and attach them to the doors. I am not sure why, but this part has been super stressful to me!
We are strongly considering using a mixture of the long pulls on the left, as well as incorporating some of the ones on the right. Our current favorite is on the second row, second pull from the left. It just really stood out to us, and I think that it would look really nice with our new cabinet style.
What do you guys think? Please leave a comment below because we could really use some help/advice during this process!
Picking pulls and handles is very stressful. I do like the pills on top and handles on bottom. I have white cabinets now and hate them so I want darker cabinets next. But I absolutely love the French vanilla. Not white and so up to date. I’ve seen your house pictures and with the countertops you picked and the rest of your house will be so so pretty.
Thank you! It has been a long and drawn out process, but enjoyable at the same time! 🙂 Have a great day!
