Anyone who knows me, knows that I take a ton of pictures of my family. Even though it is often a total pain at the time, I must say that I treasure my pictures more than any of my other possessions (other than Madeline’s journal – click HERE to see what I made for her). Life can go by so quickly, and you can easily forget small aspects of your life, if you aren’t careful. Yes, there are huge life events that happen once and awhile, but I truly believe that the small events are just as important!
If you don’t already, then I STRONGLY encourage you to be more intentional about documenting the small things in your life. I find this particularly true with young children. The famous phrase that I try to always remember is “babies don’t keep.” If you aren’t paying close attention, those moments will be gone in the blink of an eye.
Here are some special “small moments” that I have captured from when Madeline was a baby:
I love the picture below so much!!! I wish, more than anything, that I had a picture of Madeline from her first doctor’s visit. However, we forgot to snap one, so this will have to do. This was a picture from her three month visit, and she was in such a good mood! Yes, I looked exhausted and was about 20 pounds heavier than I am now. However, I don’t care!! Capturing this sweet moment was more important to me than how I looked.
Below was when Madeline could start lifting her own head. She looked so proud!!! 🙂
This was from Madeline’s first time in her Bumbo seat. She couldn’t sit up by herself yet, and I thought it was so cute that she was leaning to one side – LOL!
Bathtime was also a great time for photos! 🙂
Below was the first time Madeline ever saw snow……
This moment surprised me! This was the first time I ever saw Madeline stand up on her own. I am lucky that I had my phone when this happened!
This picture was courtesy of my father. 🙂 He gave her ice cream for the first time, and she REALLY liked it! LOL!!!
We took this picture right before Madeline went to her first birthday party at the zoo!
Speaking of birthday parties – this one was from her “sister’s” party (Lucy – our precious pup)!
We also took a picture at Mommy’s little party! For a full run down of our day, click HERE!
Madeline was definitely a morning baby and typically always had a big smile on her face when I first got her up (this is still the case – yay!). I definitely wanted to capture this one, because it made me so happy in the morning!
P.S. If you are wondering about the white piece of fabric – we had to put this temporarily on her crib, because SOMEBODY thought it was a teething toy! 🙂
Below was a picture of Madeline pulling at my leg when she thought that I had been blogging for too long!
Thankfully, I remembered to take her picture at her 9 month doctor’s appointment. Please notice that we match (Mommy had a pink top on, and Maddie had no top on with a pink bow – LOL)!!! 🙂 #CrazyMommy
Ready to be checked out by Dr. Shawn!!! 🙂
This was Madeline standing next to the bride statue at her first wedding. She was such a happy baby, and I still love those chunky thighs!
And last, but not least….
My personal favorite – this was right before we left to start our new adventure. I was able to take a year off of work on an extended maternity leave, and this was my first day back. It was about 6am in this picture, but somehow, Madeline knew that it was important to smile!!! 🙂
I know that there are a lot of pictures in this post, but that is my point. Please make sure to take pictures of the random moments in your life! You will be so happy that you did, and your child will be immensely thankful to be able to look back on a part of their life that they won’t remember!! Happy picture taking!!!! 🙂
