Just like me, I know that a lot of you out there are excited about having your child’s picture taken with the Easter bunny. However, let me warn you first time parents……it can be quite the experience, particularly if your child has a fear of people in costumes. 🙂 We very quickly figured out that Miss Madeline WAS NOT a fan of Santa Claus when she met him for the first time. LOL!!!!! If you don’t believe me, then take a look at the picture below:
While some parents choose to get very disappointed when pictures come out like this, I choose to think that they are AWESOME!! 🙂 To me, these are the pictures that truly show real life. I am a big fan of showing all parts of your life, and not just the “picture perfect” ones.
Last year, we took Madeline to meet the Easter bunny, and she was luckily much friendlier with him than she was with Santa. 🙂 The poor little girl in front of us was screaming her head off when she first met the bunny, so we fully expected Madeline to follow in her footsteps. However, she actually really liked him! I am not sure if it was because she was older, or if she was just in a better mood, but their meeting went quite smoothly. Here are some pictures of their first encounter:

Not only did we get cute pictures with Madeline and the bunny, but we were able to get some family shots as well! 🙂

Surprisingly, this was not the Easter bunny from our local mall. I say “surprisingly,” because I have so many friends who think that the mall is the only place to have your picture made with the bunny. This is absolutely not the case! This picture was actually taken at a nearby farm that offered a great fun-filled day for little ones!!! The best part about it was that it was also extremely affordable – YAY!!! 🙂 They simply charged $10.00 per car, and once you were in the gate, there were no more charges! HOORAY!!! All of the food, drinks and activities were included with your onetime fee. You were able to take as many pictures as you wanted, you just had to bring your own camera. Since most of us nowadays have cameras on our phones, it was super easy and much cheaper than doing the standard mall affair! The best part about it was that you also didn’t have to wait in those ridiculously long mall lines!!!
Pictures weren’t the only thing offered on this trip. They also had Easter egg hunts for all of the children, which I loved! Our church did not host one last year, so we thought that we wouldn’t be able to take Madeline to her first hunt (which made me very sad). We were thrilled when we found out that the farm was going to have one! 🙂 The best part about it was that they had a completely separate area for children three and under that they kept stocked the whole day. The older kids had hunts at specific times, but the babies could hunt in their own private area at any time. This was great because we didn’t have to wait around, plus we didn’t have to worry about a lot of older kids trying to run over our eleven month old in the heat of the moment. 🙂 Madeline LOVED hunting eggs, and I was able to get some great shots of us! Since it was a farm, they also had a petting zoo for the children to enjoy. We knew that Madeline loved animals, after our recent trip to the zoo, so we were super excited! Madeline enjoyed petting the animals, with the exception of the sheep. 🙂 He was pretty loud, so she freaked out a little bit when he started crying out – lol! Other than that one tiny episode, the petting zoo was a total success!
Madeline was cool with this little cutie until he started making too much noise!! LOL!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
On the next major holiday, when you are looking for something to do with your children, think out of the box a little bit!!! Take a look at your local newspapers and online sources to find inexpensive alternatives that can be fun for the whole family. So many local businesses provide free or inexpensive activities for families that you should definitely consider! Also, it is another great way to support local businesses. 🙂
