Are you having expecting company soon at your home? If so, then here are my top tips to do before your guests arrive:
Make sure you bathrooms are stocked – This would include making sure that there is plenty of toilet paper, the soap dispenser is full and you have fresh hand towels. It would also be a good idea to make sure that there are extra supplies close by, so you can easily restock whenever needed.
Have plenty of clean bath towels – Make sure that your laundry is completely caught up, and that you have plenty of bath towels for your guests. It is nice to go ahead and put a few out on each bed so your guests do not have to constantly ask you for a towel. Don’t forget to also show them where you keep additional towels and bath products, so they are easily accessible.
Have easy to grab snacks and drinks – We are typically good about having plenty of food for main meals, but don’t forget to have a few snacks for your guests too. If you guests have traveled a long distance, then they will probably welcome an easy to grab snack or drink. Make sure to let them know where they are, so they can grab without asking you. You can also leave a bowl out that is easy to find, where they can grab whatever they would like.
Have a place to plug in electronics – In the age of cell phones, iPods and iPads, everybody is constantly looking for a place to plug in their electronics. Make sure your guests have somewhere to plug in and charge their items during their stay. It is also nice to put out any additional chargers that you may have, in the event that they accidentally left theirs at home.
Clean sheets – Don’t forget to make sure and wash your bed sheets ahead of time and have all of the beds made. I find it easiest to immediately change the beds with fresh sheets as soon as your guests leave. This way, the bed is always ready for new overnight guests to arrive. This will make your life much easier closer to the time of your next guests’ arrival.
Free space in closets – It is always nice to have an open area in your closets so your guests can hang their clothes, versus them having to lay them in the floor. I like to keep a few extra hangers in the closet too, in the event that your guests didn’t bring any. This way, they will be able to hang up all of their stuff as soon as they arrive, keeping everything neat and organized. It will also keep your guest room less messy and less chaotic, which is a bonus for all. 🙂
