As Valentine’s Day approaches, I have been thinking a lot about fun date nights to do with my husband. While going to dinner is always enjoyable, it is also fun to think outside of the box a little bit and try new things. Here are five fun dating activities that you may enjoy:
Go on a scenic walk or run together – This one definitely depends on what area of the country you live in, because the weather varies so much. If one of your New Year’s resolutions was to get healthier, then this activity will help you reach your goals. We have always enjoyed going on a walk or run together, and then having coffee or brunch afterwards. This is particularly true when we are on vacation and traveling to some place warm. Get a little fresh air and spend some quality time with someone you love.
Go on a cute picnic at a park or by the river – Skip those long lines at the restaurants and pack a picnic instead! Try to find somewhere that has pretty scenery and is fairly quiet so you can easily talk. I think it is fun to pack cute napkins and plates, to make the occasion seem more special. Cue up some fun jazz music on your phone, and you have an easy and cost effective date night that you are sure to enjoy!
Take a cooking class together – My husband and I recently did this at Sur la Table, and we had the BEST time! We both love to cook, and it was really fun to spend a few hours talking with each other while learning some new tips and tricks in the kitchen. After we finished preparing everything, all of the participants were then able to eat their meals together. Everything was so delicious, and it was a wonderful few hours!
Take dancing lessons together – I was a dancer in college, so I have always enjoyed any activity involving music and dance. My husband and I have taken ballroom dancing lessons before, and we have always had a blast! It is also a very helpful activity to do, especially if you have to go to a lot of weddings. You can show off your new dancing skills to all of your family and friends anytime you go to this sort of event. We used to make an evening of it and grab dinner & drinks after our class. This is great to do with other couples too, if you are looking for a fun group activity!
Cook together at home and have a movie night – A common barrier to date nights is that you can’t find a babysitter. Please don’t let that stop you or be an excuse! You can always have dinner and a movie night in your own home after your kids go to bed. My husband and I do this a lot, since babysitters can be hard to find when you live far away from family. We will just rent a Red Box, cook a yummy meal and pretend like we are spending a night out on the town. It is much more budget friendly too and can honestly be just as fun! This is also the perfect activity during those cold winter months when it is difficult to drive in the snow. Don’t forget that you can also do this for breakfast too. Just get up a little early and have a coffee or breakfast date before your kids wake up in the morning.
What do you think would be a fun date? Please leave your comments below, because I always love hearing from you all! Thanks for stopping by, and Happy Valentine’s Day!

Also if babysitters are hard to find then see about swapping with another couple. We did this and it was great. One Friday night we would watch our friends kid and then the next week they would watch out girl. The kids loved spending time together and it was great because we didn’t have to pay for babysitting for our dates.
That is a FANTASTIC idea! Thank you so much for sharing! :o)
